Ta'ovala

Sunday was our ward conference, so we decided to wear our Tongan ta'ovala for the day. (Ta'ovala are the mats that Tongans wear over their clothes.) There are different ta'ovala for different occasions. It looks really nice when you see the people in Tonga going to church in their ta'ovala. I really like it!

Caleb was given this tupenu and ta'ovala when he was little--Ongo's mom made it!

We don't have any Tongan clothes for Sosiua yet.

One of Ongo's cousins gave me her ta'ovala when we were in Tonga--literally gave it to me right off of her. She asked me if I had ta'ovala and I said no, so she gave me hers. That is how the Tongan people are--especially the ones that do not have much--they are willing to give whatever they have.

This ta'ovala is the new one that Caleb got when we were in Tonga this time. Ongo's aunt made it for Caleb.
